Your website is worth how much?

April 30th, 2008 | 10 Comments | Posted in News | Synergy

WebsiteOutlook.com has one one of the best site statistic/value calculator’s I’ve seen. Just type in your web address and websiteoutlook.com will do the rest.

My web site had increased a little over $600.00 in 7 days and that’s saying a lot for me.

Always write a contract

April 30th, 2008 | 1 Comment | Posted in Design | Synergy

Roughly 18 months ago talks were made with a local Real Estate business in the small town of Delhi, NY about redesigning their current webpage. At first the discussion was about a possible new host provider in that their current one was not benefiting their business. I have this chip on my shoulder for clean and bold websites. Their existing design at the time though unique, was full of browser incompatibilities. An old format of flash was their primary form of navigation. The listing page was actually a separate page all together and it’s style did not match their site as a whole. I can go on and on about the designer’s flaws, but I won’t. And, there were many other questionable things they wanted to discuss about their site. They asked me to help them out and I was happy to.

Since by trade I am a building contractor I always approach a job no matter the size with a formal contract. These contracts always are discussed and re-written with the client before a signature is made from either party. Folks, always write a contract! I am so glad I did because I could have really dug myself a hole with this design. Fortunately I was dealing with very respectable people and we both saw eye to eye with the objective before us.

Spring time and BBQ tips

April 28th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Social | Synergy

Spring has arrived and a flavor of good barbecue is a must.  I’ve waited all winter long for a seemingly decent grilling day when in fact, any day is a good grilling day.  Rain, snow, night or day…  any time is a good time to grill.

Today I had an unsurpassing craving for juicy hot dogs and relish and the b-b-q is sitting outside just calling for me.  It’s time, and I’m ready.

Here are some simple tips for easy no-fault barbecuing. More »

WPDesigner Sold and is now LOL

April 28th, 2008 | 3 Comments | Posted in Social | Synergy

I say “LOL” because the previous owner, Small Potato, took his money and ran. For those of you that don’t know what I’m talking about www.wpdesigner.com was for sale and sold for a rather decent figure to a new guy that lives in Miami, FL. The new guy wrote an introduction entry here which was posted back on March 28th. WPDesigner.com has always been an active site when administered by Small Potato and since it was sold the site became a laughing stock for current members. Now the site is literally in chaos!  By reading all the comments it is quite evident that some are irate, some find it funny (like myself) and most are just curious as to what the future holds for this website.

Wpdesigner.com is a blog focused on developing WordPress themes and improving your blog’s performance through code and design tweaks. The site has over 1300 members as a blogging community alone.

Vimeo Video HD test

April 27th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Videos | Synergy

Edit: Further review and research finds that vimeo actually does not allow HD embedding at this time. This may be a feature made possible from a “pro” account.

While thinking this would work, vimeo currently does not allow for high definition embedding for members at this time. Possibly in the near future this feature will be available for “pro” users… Hmm, I’m not sure how that will effect their current relationship with traffic flow, my guess is not too well.

To really see a video in HD you must actually view the video on their website. I understand the concern with embedding HD video in which it would consume so much bandwidth, still, a possible feature most video (dare I say all) do not have. A milestone which I see dominated by vimeo, soon.
